Role 01
Communications Officer
Communications Nairobi / Remote Closes 31 March 2026

Square One Eco Africa is seeking a Communications Officer to lead the development and delivery of our external communications strategy. This role is central to how the organisation presents its programmes, stories, and mission to donors, partners, policymakers, and the public.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a communications strategy aligned to organisational goals
  • Write, edit, and publish content across digital platforms including website, social media, and newsletters
  • Produce donor and partner-facing programme updates and impact reports
  • Manage the organisation's social media presence and community engagement
  • Coordinate field storytelling in collaboration with programme teams
  • Support media relations and press outreach where relevant

Qualifications & Skills

  • Degree in Communications, Journalism, International Development, or related field
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in communications, preferably in an NGO or development context
  • Exceptional written and verbal English; Swahili an advantage
  • Experience managing social media channels and digital content tools
  • Ability to translate complex programme information into accessible narratives
  • Strong editorial judgement and attention to tone and brand

Role 02
Videographer
Visual Media Nairobi / Field-Based Closes 31 March 2026

We are seeking a skilled and purpose-driven Videographer to capture and produce compelling visual content from our field programmes across Kenya and, in time, the wider region. This role supports our storytelling pillar — one of the three foundations of our Theory of Change.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute video production for field programme documentation and storytelling
  • Shoot, edit, and produce short-form and long-form video content for digital and donor use
  • Capture authentic community voices and on-the-ground programme impact
  • Manage video archiving and digital asset organisation
  • Collaborate with the communications team on narrative direction and content calendars
  • Support photography needs for campaigns and reports where required

Qualifications & Skills

  • Demonstrated videography and post-production skills with a strong portfolio
  • Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, or equivalent editing software
  • Experience working in community or field settings in East Africa preferred
  • Sensitivity and professionalism when documenting community members
  • Ability to work independently in remote or resource-limited environments
  • Photography skills and familiarity with still photography workflow an advantage

Fundraising & Partnerships Officer
Fundraising Partnerships Nairobi / Remote Closes 31 March 2026

The Fundraising and Partnerships Officer will play a foundational role in building the financial and institutional infrastructure that sustains and grows Square One Eco Africa's work. This role involves identifying, cultivating, and securing funding relationships with institutional donors, foundations, and strategic partners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and submission of grant proposals to institutional donors and foundations
  • Build and manage a pipeline of funding and partnership opportunities
  • Coordinate stakeholder mapping across donor, government, and NGO ecosystems
  • Maintain relationships with existing partners and cultivate prospective ones
  • Support the preparation of funding reports and donor communications
  • Represent Square One Eco Africa at relevant forums and networking events

Qualifications & Skills

  • Degree in International Development, Business, Finance, or related field
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in fundraising, grant writing, or partnership management
  • Proven track record of securing institutional or foundation funding preferred
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills
  • Familiarity with the East African donor and development landscape
  • Excellent written English and proposal writing ability
